KTwo® is an innovative multi-layer multi-component compression system, designed to ensure even distribution of pressure between two dynamic bandages.
KTwo® applies the effective therapeutic pressure required to treat active or healed venous leg ulcers and associated symptoms along with severe oedema in chronic venous insufficiency.
Irrespective of leg shape, KTwo® provides the correct level of pressure from the very first application thanks to its specific etalonnage system (pressure indicator).

The KTwo® compression system consists of two separate dynamic bandages:

K Tech (the 1st layer): K Tech is a composite layer formed of wadding and a moderately elastic compression fabric. Composition: wadding: viscose, polyester moderately elastic compression fabric: polyamide, elastane Stretchability at T0: approximately 75% (with a force of 7 daN/cm)

K Press (the 2nd layer): K Press, the second bandage, to be applied over K Tech, is a cohesive elastic bandage. Composition: acrylic, polyamide, elastane Contains natural latex Stretchability at T0: approximately 160% (with a force of 7 daN/cm)

KTwo® is indicated for the treatment of venous leg ulcers and the reduction of chronic venous oedema.

• High-level compression is contra-indicated in patients suffering from an arterial condition (arterial or predominantly arterial ulcer; known or suspected arterial disease). KTwo® is not recommended when the ankle-brachial pressure index (ABPI), measured by Doppler ultrasound, is below 0.8.

• Patients potentially allergic to any of the components (especially to latex).

• Before prescribing KTwo®, it is necessary to perform a Doppler ultrasound assessment to check that the ABPI is greater than 0.8;
• In the event of diabetes, heart failure or advanced microvascular disease, KTwo® should only be used following medical advice, with close monitoring and after appropriate treatment.
• The efficacy of KTwo® has been tested and validated for the simultaneous application of K Tech and K Press.
• If any difficulties arise, consult your doctor.

KTwo® exists in two sizes corresponding to ankle circumferences of 18 to 25 cm and 25 to 32 cm.

Application method of Urgo K2

Before applying the bandages:

• Doppler the patient to ensure the ABPI is greater than 0.8.

• Assess the limb-shape to identify any abnormalities and potential pressure areas.

• Check the ankle circumference to ensure the appropriate kit size is chosen (ie: 18-25 cm or 25-32 cm).

• If there is a wound presented, apply an appropriate dressing.

• Before application, hold the foot at 90 degrees (“toes to nose”).

• The bandage is best applied first thing in the morning or after the leg has been elevated for half an hour to reduce oedema.

Mode of application:

Assess need for toe to knee or toe to thigh bandaging depending on the indication.

In case of venous leg ulcer: application below the knee using a 10cm width Urgo K2 kit

Ankle circumference 18-25cm Application of K Tech 1.    Apply K Tech at the  base of the metatarsal head by using two turns to anchor the bandage ensuring the etalonnage is towards the top edge. 2.    Secure the heel by using a figure of eight, ensuring coverage of the heel. 3.    Spiral up the leg, stretching  the ellipse to form a circle with a 50% overlap to cover etalonnage,  which will  achieve correct compression. 4.    Finish 2cm below popliteal space. Remove  excess bandage and secure with tape. Application of K Press     Apply K Press over K Tech using the same application technique. To ensure patient  comfort, apply K Press over K Tech allowing a border of K  Tech at the toes and at the knee. Remove excess bandage.  Once applied, press down gently on the bandage to ensure full cohesion. Ankle circumference 25-32cm Using the  appropriate bandage kit for ankle circumference 25-32cm, follow the  same instructions than as ankle circumference 18-25cm but with a 2/3  overlap to just cover the etalonnage (printed in the middle of the  bandage).

In case of venous oedema: application below the knee or on full leg using 8, 10 and 12cm width Urgo K2 kits (as appropriate)

If necessary, first bandage toes using K-Band 5cm retention bandage.

Ankle circumference 18-25cm Application of K Tech 1.    Depending on foot size choose an 8 or 10cm bandage kit to bandage foot. Apply K Tech at the base of the metatarsal head by using two turns to anchor the bandage ensuring the etalonnage is towards the top edge. 2.    Spiral up the foot, stretching the ellipse to form a circle with a 50% overlap to cover etalonnage, which will achieve correct compression. Secure the heel by using a figure of eight, ensuring coverage of the heel. Bandage to just above the malleolus. Remove excess bandage and secure with tape. 3.    Continue with 10cm K Tech up the leg using the same application technique (stretching the ellipse to form a circle with a 50% overlap to cover etalonnage). 4.    Finish 2cm below popliteal space unless bandaging to thigh. Remove excess bandage and secure with tape. If thigh bandaging is required 5.    Bandage to just above the knee with the 10cm K Tech (flexing knee slightly). 6.    Continue to top of thigh with either 10cm or 12cm K Tech (as appropriate) using same application technique. Remove excess bandage and secure firmly. Application of K Press Once leg is fully bandaged with K Tech (either to knee or thigh), apply K Press over K Tech using the same application technique. To ensure patient comfort, apply K Press over K Tech allowing a border of K Tech at each side. Remove excess bandage. Once applied, press down gently on the bandage to ensure full cohesion. Ankle circumference 25-32cm Using the appropriate bandage kit for ankle circumference 25-32cm, follow the same instructions as ankle circumference 18-25cm but with a 2/3 overlap to just cover the etalonnage (printed in the middle of the bandage).

Important :

• The etalonnage on the bandages indicates when the correct therapeutic pressure has been reached. The bandages have been correctly applied to the leg when each ellipse becomes a circle and when the etalonnage is just covered.

• Always remove any excess bandage: do not over-wrap the leg.

• Urgo K2 is recommended for a maximum of 7 days.
