Super-absorbent antibacterial lipido-colloid non-adhesive dressing
Description
Properties
Exudates are absorbed instantly and vertically, limiting the risks of maceration of the wound edges. Exudates are retained in the dressing.
Effective on resistant organisms: MRSA (Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus), VRE (Vancomycin-Resistant Enterococcus Faecalis) and MRB (Multi-Resistant Bacteria).
Urgocell® Silver is very well tolerated
Urgocell® Silver / Cellosorb® Ag forms a lipido-colloid gel on contact with the exudates, which:
- Creates moist conditions promoting the healing process,
- Prevents adhesion of the dressing to the wound,
- Makes dressing changes completely painless.
Composition
Urgocell® Silver is a lipido-colloid dressing made of three layers:
- Non-adherent lipido-colloid contact layer (polyester mesh impregnated with hydrocolloid, vaseline and silver salts particles): Urgotul® Silver ,
- Expanded super-absorbent polyurethane foam pad,
- Non-woven, semi-permeable 100% polyurethane backing.
Indications
Urgocell® Silver is indicated in local treatment of moderate to heavily exuding:
- acute wound ( partial – thickness burns, dermabrasions, traumatic wounds, …)
- chronic wounds (leg ulcers, pressure ulcers) at risk of infection.
Recommended for wounds with damaged surrounding skin.
Precaution of use
METHOD OF USE
- Cleanse the wound with saline solution.
- If an antiseptic is first used, rinse the wound thoroughly with saline solution before applying Urgocell® Silver.
- Remove the protective transparent films from the dressing.
- Apply Urgocell® Silver directly onto the wound. If needed, Urgocell® Silver can be cut using sterile scissors to match the size of the dressing to the wound.
- Secure Urgocell® Silver with a retention bandage (Nylex® ).
- For the treatment of leg ulcers, a compression system bandage should be applied.
- Urgocell® Silver should be changed every 1 to 3 days depending on the condition of the wound
PRECAUTIONS
- Treatment with Urgocell® Silver should be carried out under medical supervision.
- Concomitant use with other local treatments is not recommended.
- Use on pregnant women, breast-feeding, newborn and neonates is contraindicated in the absence of specific clinical information.
- Avoid contact with electrodes or conducting gels, during electronic measurements (EEG, ECG).
- Do not use on patients undergoing Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) examination.
- Urgocell® Silver should be stored flat, away from light, heat and moisture.
- Do not use if sterile protection has been damaged
