Instructions for use

Before treatment:

  • Wash hands thoroughly

Skin preparation:

  • If necessary, remove hair using a surgical shaver to ensure good adhesion of the dressing
  • Stop any flow of blood from the wound
  • Disinfect the wound or the intrusion zone.
  • Rinse and dry carefully.

Dressing application:

  • 1. Remove the sterile film from the pouch
  • 2. Remove the first protective paper tab and present the adhesive part to the skin
  • 3. Apply one half of the film on the skin so that the catheter is centred
  • 4. Smooth down the dressing from the centre towards the edges
  • 5. Remove the second paper tab and apply the other half of the film without tension
  • 6. Carefully smooth down the whole dressing so that it adheres properly
  • 7. Remove the two transparent protective tabs
  • 8. The adhesive film can stay in place for up to 5 days

Dressing removal:

  • 1. Detach one of the corners by pulling, but never perpendicular to the skin. Hold the dressing using the other hand, placed flat against it.
  • 2. Remove Optiskin Film by taking the opposite parts already detached and pulling, but never perpendicular to the skin.

Precautions for use

  • The dressing can be left in place for up to 5 days.
  • Check that the individual sterile packaging is intact before use
  • Avoid pulling tight on application.
  • Do not use on infected wounds, puncture sites, bleeding or highly exuding wounds.
  • Check the wound or puncture site and surrounding skin regularly to detect any local signs of infection (pain, redness, oedema, odour or unusual discharge)
