The Urgo Foundation
1 million euros over a 5-year period to support Research
The Urgo Foundation was created in December 2009 to extend the company’s commitment to public health. With a five-year budget of at least one million euros, the Foundation is focusing on three main areas: supporting scientific research, contributing to health education and preventive health initiatives and encouraging health players, with grants and scientific prizes.
The main projects: an increasingly international role
Diabetes is one of the main public health challenges for the future. Wounds in diabetic patients are a major complication of the disease.
For the first time, a call for projects has been launched simultaneously in 6 different countries.
On the theme of “diabetic foot wounds: initiatives and innovative practices for the prevention or treatment of these wounds”, this call for projects highlights the Foundation’s commitment to the management of diabetic patients’ wounds.
In parallel, the Foundation maintains its commitment to healthcare education for diabetics.
A research programme is currently under way to determine the reasons behind poor treatment compliance among diabetic patients and concrete ways of improving wound prevention.
